Fear, Power, Love, Sound Mind

“God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love and a sound mind”
II Timothy 1:7

So why do so many of us live in fear?
1.The main reason is a lack of knowledge, people are afraid of the things they don't understand the word of God says that His people perish because of the lack of knowledge.
Hosea 4:6
2.You need not fear for there is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ
Romans 8:1
So what Spirit did God give us?
 1. The verse here in Second Timothy says one of POWER, LOVE, and a SOUND MIND that is three different things, but can be wrapped up into The Holy Spirit. So we can read this verse this way God did not give us a spirit of fear but gave us His Holy Spirit. Jesus told us that He would send the Helper.
John 14:16,17&26

What is the power of the Holy Spirit?
1.The Holy Spirit give us the boldness (power) to step out of our comfort zones
Acts 1:8
What is Love?
1.Paul writes about love to the Corinthians in 1st Corinthians 13 and tells them without love we are nothing.
1st Corinthians 13:1,2
2.Jesus talks about how love is His commandment
John 15:12
Sound Mind / Faith
1.As Christians we are to be of sound mind not double minded.
James 1:5-8
 2. The Bible says that with out faith it is impossible to please God
Hebrews 11:6

3.With a sound mind you know who you are in Christ
2 Corinthians 5:17
Romans 8: 15-17
Closing Statement God has given the commandment to be strong and of good courage
Joshua 1:9

Psalm 17:1 "Hear a just cause, O Lord Attend to my Cry....."

Right now Lord I am crying out to you please hear my cry I am tired of feeling this way tired of existing in fear. I'm not living the plan You have for me. I know that fear holds me back, and You are moving forward. My anger also hinders me Lord deal with that root cut it out of me I refuse to be angry anymore the fear only feeds my anger and my anger feeds the fear. THIS IS NOT LIFE please Lord free me of fear and anger.

Keep your focus

Proverbs 4:25-27 "Let your eyes look straight ahead and your eyelids look right before you. Ponder the path of your feet and let your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or to the left. Remove your foot from evil." As I read this today I was reminded of Peter when he jumped out of the boat on to the raging sea. He walked on water for a little bit then lost focus, started looking at the left and the right. See Peter lost focus on what was before him, and started to sink into the sea. If Jesus had not of been there Peter would have drowned. Thank God He sent His Son to save us. How many of us have lost focus today, and are drowning? I would be the first to admit I loose focus from time to time, but thank God the Holy Ghost is right there to pull my focus right back to God. Have any of you lost focus on what it is God wants for you? God wants you to have life abundant not life just ok . If you are tired of trying to do this all your self and realized you are drowning reach up and grab a hold of Jesus and He will pull out of the sea and set you back on solid ground. Matthew 11:28 "Come to Me (Jesus) all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest."

If you have lost focus and want to get back on track its this simple :

Father I have lost focus on You please forgive me I want to get back on track with the plan you have for my life. Holy Ghost help me to stay on track and order my steps. Thank you Lord for never leaving me and being there to pull me out when I am drowning and set me back on the solid rock. In Jesus name AMEN!

Your body is the Temple!!

The other morning as I was in my prayer time the Holy Ghost revealed to me, my body is His Temple and made me aware of things that I have been putting in His Temple. *1st Corinthians 6:19 "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own." Most of you know this scripture but have you ever really thought about it. Our body is His temple what kind of things do you let go into it not just food or drink but, things like the tv shows you watch, the kind of stuff you read, the stuff your hear. The temple is to be a place of prayer. *Matthew 21:13 " And He said to them, "It is written 'My house shall be called a house of prayer,' but you have made it a 'den of thieves.'" Really by putting anything into your body that is not of God you are robbing your body of the power of the Holy Ghost. It is all comes down to this will you be known for being a house of prayer or a den of thieves.

*all quoted scripture is from the New King James Version

Building a Home/house

So last night I was looking back at some of my old Journal entries and came across one I found to be so true, I had written back in May of 2009 That you can't build a home if you are constantly tearing down the walls. Wow, I thought the Lord had shown this to me before but for some reason it hit me again as I read it. A man in any marriage can be seen as the Home/House and the family he raises in that house would be the walls with the wife as the main support for him and the "house". So it comes to reason that If you want to build you can't tear down, So if you love your wife and your family build them up, lift them up, and they will be there as the support you need.

The Bible backs this up,"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her" Ephesians 5:25 NKJV.

Also, "And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord," Ephesians 6:4 NKJV

Small Vision

The other night I was reading in the book of Matthew Chapter 6. As i finished up and took time to mediate on what I had just read I saw a vision of myself preaching in a church over Mt. 6:33 "Seek ye first....". It was strange because it was like i was sitting in the pew and watching a future self preach I had more gray hair lol, but the main part was as i finished my service i did an altar call and 5 people were saved that night and 3 people where baptized in the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in tongues. Just something I wanted to share with you all.

Hate

“If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.
Luke 14:26

When I first read this the other day, I was like WOW!!! Jesus used a really strong word here, I was always told as a kid to never say that I hated anyone. So I decided to check into why Jesus choose this word. As Websters dictionary defines hate is "extreme dislike", vines bible dictionary defines it as "preferring one thing over another". So Jesus wasn't talking about hating in the way I thought at first, He was simply saying that we should prefer to follow Him over following our family, or ourselves. You should definitely love your family but, you must be obedient to God first before all things.

“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
Matthew 6:24

The word hate in this verse is the same form of what Jesus was talking about it Luke 14:26. We can't serve a member of our family or ourselves and serve God for we will prefer one over the other, just the same as we can't serve God and mammon(riches, money, or possessions). If we put our confidence in our riches, possessions, money, ourselves or our family members it will fail it will let us down, but if we put our confidence in God almighty it will be a success every time.

If we will prefer Jesus over our family, possessions, and even our own lives God will bless us for our obedience. Even though the decision to follow Christ may not be the easiest or most popular. It must be the one thing you stand firm in. One must not compromise his devotion to Christ. Obedience to God's will is the key to a happy and full life.
